Makeup articles in magazines and makeup textbooks instruct women on several ways to apply cosmetics, such as using fingertips, wedge sponges or cotton swabs. However, makeup brushes are the most effective cosmetic tools in any makeup collection to achieve the most natural and even application. Makeup brushes are created for various types of cosmetics (foundation, eye shadow, etc.) and bristles are made with either synthetic or natural hairs. While there are numerous types of brushes available with both types of hairs, the best investment is a set of natural hairbrushes. These brushes are made with sable or squirrel hairs that are sewn into the ferrule, or metal part of the brush. Unlike synthetic makeup brushes, natural brushes are durable, long lasting and the hairs ensure a smooth application and keep colors looking true. There are numerous makeup brush kits available either in stores or online; however, each kit should contain brushes for the following cosmetics: · Concealer · Large fluffy brush for loose/pressed powder · Eye shadow · Blush · Lip A minimum of these five brushes is also ideal for traveling or on-the-go touch-ups. Other brushes that are helpful in any collection include: · Foundation brush – creates a smooth, “air-brushed” look. · Eyebrow brush – perfect for blending powder and pencil into eyebrows. · Eye liner brush – for using eye shadow as liner or powder eyeliner to create a softer line. · Eyelash comb – to separate any mascara clumps. · Bronzer brush – use a separate brush when applying bronzer to avoid distorting with other colors (i.e. blush). · Fan brush – perfect for sweeping any loose eye shadow under the eyes to avoid smudging makeup or quick touch-ups of blush or loose powder. When storing brushes, use either an upright glass container large enough to accommodate all brushes or a flat storage case with a separate compartment for each brush so bristles aren’t clumped together. Washing each brush is very essential not only to maintain bristles but also to ensure proper color application and remove oils, bacteria, dirt and debris. When using brushes every day, clean with a bottled, spray-pump, antibacterial makeup brush cleaner. · Foundation brush – once per week. · Loose/pressed powder, blush, bronzer and fan brush– once per week. · Eye shadow brush – every 2-3 days. · Eyeliner brush – after each use. |

Everyone ohhs and ahhs about eyelashes and the consensus seems to be that men come out better on that score. So what’s a woman to do if nature short-changed her in the eyelash department? Of course there is mascara to darken the color and thicken the lashes. However, many women use eyelash curlers to enhance nature’s framework. Do eyelash curlers really work? Which kind is best? How do you use them? And, bottom line, what do they cost? Over the years eyelash curlers have made some vast improvements. While the traditional curler has maintained somewhat the same style, the materials used today are lighter weight. Products now are made from plastic or steel and the hinge mechanisms move smoothly thus making the curlers easier to use. They are also more durable. The pads - some being silicon treated – are softer and more gentle on the lashes. But keep in mind, that the pads should be changed approximately every two months depending on how often you use the lash curler. A worn pad can damage the eyelashes. If the classic curler is difficult for you to use, you might consider using the wand style. Light weight, compact, and easily portable, these battery operated curling wands can be tossed into a purse or cosmetic bag for that instant refresher. These handy little curlers will increase the curl without overheating and burning this delicate hair. While most of the curlers today boast being “pinch proof”, developing the technique of curling your lashes takes some practice. Don’t wait until you’re ready to go out to try it out. Experiment when you have some time, to really get a feel for using it. With the classic or traditional curler, it is recommended to apply the mascara last. With the heated lash curler, some brands recommend applying the mascara first. Read the directions that come with the curler before you practice. To get that wide-eyed glamorous look simply place the curler at the base of your lashes. Remember to start with clean lashes! Gently grasp a section of lashes between the pads. Apply gentle pressure. Now open the curler and release the lashes. Remove the curler and move to the next section. Then apply mascara, if necessary. The cost? Lash curlers no longer pinch your lashes or your wallet. Good eyelash curlers range in price from ten to thirty-five dollars. Not bad for getting great-looking lashes. |

Most of us know that using the right tool for a job will make any task infinitely easier. A cosmetic bag filled with fab makeup products is not terribly helpful if you don’t have the right tools to apply all of your goodies. And while the cosmetic aisles of your local department store will be happy to oblige by providing you with every tool and brush under the sun, there are a few key products that will get you through most of your days and nights of looking great. It is far wiser to stock your beauty supply with a few high quality tools that you will use every day, rather than chasing every new fangled contraption that comes on the market. Here is the short list of every beauty tool that every diva should have on hand. A Bounty of Brushes A good makeup brush can take you far in your beauty routine, and a whole collection of them will keep your gorgeous face looking its best every single day. Your brush set should include sable brushes to apply blush and eyeshadow colors the most effectively. A blush brush should be wide and dome shaped, and an eyeshadow brush that is dense and angled will offer more color and a basic brush will offer a softer look. A stiff synthetic brush will allow you to apply lip color smoothly and with precision. And an eyeliner brush will give you options in applying liquid or powder liners. Once you have collected each and every brush that will get you through your daily makeup routine, maintain them well with a regular cleaning so they will last as long as possible. The Rest of the Repertoire Good makeup brushes are only one part of your cosmetic collection. To round out your repertoire of tools, you should have a pair of tweezers for plucking and other assorted functions. It is best to have one pair of pointed tweezers for precision work and a pair of flat end tweezers for the bulk of your plucking job. A good eyelash curler will keep your eyes defined and dramatic, whether you decide to don your curled lashes with black mascara for drama or a clear option for everyday wear. An eyebrow comb or brush will help maintain well-groomed brows, and the comb will also keep your eyelashes neat and separated. With a good supply of beauty tools and a collection of your favorite makeup products, you can walk out your door every morning looking your absolute best. The right tool will get the job done, and when it comes to your face, investing in the best tools will be money well spent. Love your tools. |

In HBO’s True Blood, the vampires have come out of the proverbial closet. In the show, which centers around the mortal and immortal residents of a town called Bon Temps, Louisiana, the generally law-abiding humans, vamps and other preternatural citizens live alongside each other, doing their best to abide by their natures while following the rules of Southern decorum.
Of course, drama ensues, and that’s what makes the show so fun to watch!
Lafayette Reynolds, the flamboyant cook/road crew worker/man of several questionable illegal pursuits, is one of my favorite residents of Bon Temps. How many guys can work lace and rhinestones and still look tough at the same time? Not many, I contend!
A sage of unique style, Lafayette has taught me so very many timeless makeup and beauty lessons like…
1. When in doubt, rock the cat eye
Dressed up or dressed down, they’re an unmistakably classic look.
2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!
If you plan to show some skin (and sometimes you just gotta!), accentuate the positives with accessories, like this stylish cap and matching blinged-out belt buckle.
3. Say “YES!” to denim and lace
The juxtaposition of soft lace and rugged denim makes for great fashion.
4. Mesh tops are both practical AND pretty
Never let ‘em see you sweat! Whether you’re working the kitchen or walking a catwalk, consider breathable mesh tops. Try one layered on top of your favorite tank.
5. Spaghetti straps look great with layered necklaces
Nothing screams “vampire bait!” like bare shoulders and bling. Consider a top with spaghetti straps, and attract your very own wealthy immortal benefactor with big, shiny baubles around your neck.
Thank you, Lafayette, for being you — a truly unique fashion and beauty icon.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Brace yourself, young lady, because someone’s about to make a scene — and it’s you! Do you remember last week’s grayish blue smokey eye from our look at theBenefit Scene Queen The Annie Collection palette? Here’s a quick breakdown of it with pictures and a how-to.
The Benefit Scene Queen palette
When would I rock a look like this? Well, often! — specifically, whenever I’d want to look dressed up but not overdone, day or night. If it feels a little too dramatic for daytime wear to work/school, maybe give it a try out one night with friends or your boo.
Because it puts so many great products at my fingertips, I love the Benefit Scene Queen palette, but take a look at your existing makeup stash for similar colors… You might already have the right fixin’s to duplicate the look.
Because it puts so many great products at my fingertips, I love the Benefit Scene Queen palette, but take a look at your existing makeup stash for similar colors… You might already have the right fixin’s to duplicate the look.
First, let’s marshal our forces and gather our supplies!
For the eyes…
- A neutral eyeshadow primer like Benefit Stay Don’t Stray
- The Shimmery Beige Eyeshadow from Scene Queen
- The Misty Blue Eyeshadow from Scene Queen
- The Charcoal Eyeshadow from Scene Queen
- The Navy Eyeshadow from Scene Queen
- Smokin’ Liner from Scene Queen
- A black mascara like Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara
Your tools…
- A fluffy eyeshadow brush like the Benefit Fluff Shadow Brush
- A good crease brush like the Sonia Kashuk Crease Brush
- A good blending brush like the MAC 217
- A small smudge brush like the MAC 214 Short Shader Brush
- A good lash curler (lately I’ve been using the Benefit ProCurl)
- A makeup fixing spray like MAC Fix+

Benefit Scene Queen eye makeup swatches on NW20 skin from left: Smokin’ Liner, Shimmering Beige Shadow, Charcoal Eyeshadow, Misty Blue Eyeshadow, Navy Eyeshadow
The eye makeup, step-by-step (ooh baby!)
1. Begin by prepping your lids. To create a smooth canvas for color and extend the wear time of my eye makeup, I’ll start with an eyeshadow primer. For this look, I applied Benefit Stay Don’t Stray over the entire lid with a finger. Then, I dabbed the base eyeshadow color, Shimmering Beige Eyeshadow, directly on top with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.
2. Add a POP! of color. Since this look contains some darker shades, I also wanted to add some color (but not so much that it overwhelmed the eye). I wet the head of my fluffy shadow brush with a spritz of makeup fixing spray and then used it to apply Misty Blue Eyeshadow onto the lid. Next, I drew the color up into the crease and smoothed out any harsh lines with the blending brush.
3. Deepen the look, and add smoke in the outer corner. For a daytime-friendly smokey effect, I applied Navy Eyeshadow to the outer corner and, with my trustyblending brush, mellowed out any harsh lines.
4. Define the look with liner. To draw attention to my peepers (and to create the illusion of thicker lashes), I lined both the upper and lower waterlines (and lash lines) with Smokin’ Liner.
5. Soften the look with layering. Because black liner can look a little harsh for daytime wear, I toned it down by smudging Navy Shadow along the lashlines with the small smudge brush.
6. Finish the eyes with mascara. Finally, the finishing touches! I curled my lashes with the Benefit ProCurl Curler and applied three coats of Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara to the upper lashes.
Scene Queen’s lip and cheek goodies
Scene Queens’s coordinating colors for lips and cheeks make finishing this look a total breeze.
That’s Scene Queen’s Coralista on my cheeks, High Beam along the upper cheek bones and Juicy Coral gloss on my lips.
I hope you had fun making a scene with me today, ladies. If you end up giving this look a try and feel like sharing, send me a pic! (email it to me at karen (at) makeupandbeautyblog (dot) com). I’d love to see what you come up with.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Have you ever stopped by Benefit’s beauty blog, the Secret Life of Benefit Gal? They’re doing this fun feature right now with Southwest airlines called Beauty on the Fly. The video is freakin’ hilarious! It stars the rapping Southwest flight attendant from their commercials (he waxes philosophic on Benefit makeup, so funny!) and gives lots of tips and tricks.

Although eyeshadows define and dramatize your eyes, only your eyelashes are in a position to actually reflect colour into the eyes. So, to emphasize the colour of your eyes, you must frame them with an appropriate shade of mascara.
For the best result: First look down and brush the top lashes from the roots downwards then look up and brush the top lashes upwards . Then still looking up, brush colour on the lower lashes. Wait a minute for them to dry, and similarly apply a second coat. Finally, brush with a clean dry brush, to separate the lashes.
Mascara coats the lashes, making them thick, long, lustrous and more noticeable. Apply mascara to all of the upper lashes from one corner of the eye to the other, but sometimes this method may look too strong. An alternative and the method that we prefer is to just coat the outer two-thirds of the upper lashes. You can choose from 3 different forms of mascara - water-based, water-proof and the mixed variety.
How to remove the mascara
While removing the mascara avoid the colour from going onto the delicate area below the bottom lashes. Hold a tissue under the bottom lashes and close your eyes.Roll a cotton bud dipped in a cosmetic cleanser over the lashes, taking the mascara down onto the tissue. Repeat till all the mascara is gone.
An eye-opening look at mascara, eye makeup, liners, curlers and application tips for highlighting your beautiful eyes. Mascara is applied on the eye lashes to beutify them. Different formulas and application of mascara can enhance your lashes in different ways.
If you are bold enough, try putting on blue or brown mascara on your lashes after applying a coat of black mascara, for a stunning look.
Decide whether you would prefer to use waterproof or water-soluble mascara. Water-soluble is easier to remove without eye makeup remover, thus minimizing the amount of rubbing around the eyes, which can lead to saggy skin. Waterproof mascara is a better choice for athletes, especially swimmers.
Tips for applying eye mascara:
Select a suitable color. If you have blond or red lashes then go for brown mascara. Darker-lashed women can consider brown for a casual look, and black or brown-black for more pronounced or dramatic lashes.
prior to your mascara, Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and apply all other eye makeup.
Begin with the underside of your upper eye lashes and then moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes.
Wait for a minute for them to dry, and similarly apply a second coat. Let the first coat dry completely, then apply the second coat. Two thin coats look more natural than one thick coat.
Finally brush with a clean dry brush, to separate the lashes.
Forms of Mascara
They are three forms of Mascara.
Water Based Mascara :- Water based mascaras can be applied quickly and removed easily. So they are gentle to the lashes and eyes. But they won't stay for a long time, as the mascara smudges easily when it comes into contact with water, tears and perspiration.
Water Proof Mascara :- Water proof variety stay for a long time and is water proof and smudge proof. They are a good investment as they are resistant to contamination and can be used even years after they have been manufactured. But it takes a long time to dry and is difficult to remove the liner.
Mixed Variety Mascara :- is a combination of water based and water proof mascaras. These dry quickly and is easy to remove.

The eyeshadow you choose should flatter and enhance your eye colour and the shape of your eyes, as well as your whole appearance. The skin colour, the eye colour, and your life styleneed to be considered when choosingand using eyeshadow. Although there .are no hard and fast rules for choosing the colour of your eyeshadow it is best to find out by experiment-ing with colours. But always hannonise the colour of the eyeshadow with that of your skin and your eyes. Whatever the colour, it should be blended in well, so that there are no harsh lines. Aim always for a natural look.
How to Apply Eyeshadow
Put the very light medium toned shade on the space beneath the brows up to the crease of the eye lid.
Contour the crease of your eyelid with a dark shade, using a smaller eye shadow brush. This color can also work as an eyeliner.
Only use cream eye shadows that do not cause creasing upon application and should be coordinated with powder shadows that are to be used on top of them. They should be applied using fingertips.
Blend shadow by stroking the lid gently with an eye shadow brush. Don't use your finger 'you could wipe off the shadow entirely.
Apply a little shadow beneath the eyes, along the lower lash line. Smudge it lightly to give your eyes a subtle, glamorous look.
Unless you're using just one eye shadow color, use at least two eye shadow brushes for application.
Pearly shades are great for highlighting the brow bone and opening up the eye area.
Tap off any excess eye shadow from your brush before applying-this will prevent over application as well as flaking eye shadow.
Different Forms of Eye Shadows
- Pressed Powders
- Loose Powder
- Creams
- Sticks
- Liquids
Eye Shadow Applying Tips and Tricks
Your eye shadow kit may contain 3 shadows-a very light shade(vanilla, very pale pink, beige, silver grey etc) which is the high lighter and which gives a light shimmer on the brow bone and highlights it. The box has two more shades of the same color.
1. Put the very light shade (high lighter) on the space beneath the brows up to the crease of the eye lid (leaving the eye lid)
2. Apply the medium shade on the upper eyelid only.
3. And the darkest shade on the crease of the eyelid that is the place almost in the middle of the total eye area-above the lashes and beneath the brows. Blend both the colors well.
4. With the tip of a fine brush, apply a little shadow beneath the eyes, along the lower lash line. Smudge it lightly to give your eyes a subtle, glamorous look.

Use of eye liners means adding depth to your eyes: Depth and intensity, drama and expression come to the eyes through the clever use of definers: eyeliners, pencils and kohls. Available in rich, daddy shadedcolours, these emphasize the eyes, create new shapes and give the eyes a mysterious and exotic allure. Eye liner is used to make the eyes more prominent and create an illusion of thicker lashes. Eye lining is done with a black or brown eye liner on the top lid of each eye and sometimes under the lower lashes. Here again, practice will make you perfect.
Using the liquid liner Test, on the back of your hand, the amount of pressure you should apply. Unless you are a real artIst, it is best to steady your elbow on a flat surface. Work from the inside of the eye to the outside comer and keep the line light and even. If you stop at the comer of the eyes, the effect will be round and wide-eyed; if you continue the line and sweep it up and out, you would get a more exotic look. Finally smudge the edges with a cotton bud to soften them.
How to Apply Eye Liner
Eye liner using a few simple techniques can dramatically affect the look and shape of your eyes. Whether you choose a soft line or a dramatic stroke, eyeliner draws attention.
When using an eye pencil, open your mouth slightly to relax the eye muscles. It will make lining a lot easier without having to pull or tug at your lid.
Draw a thin line, try to draw as close to the base of your eyelids as possible. Start from the inside corner of your eye and work your way out. If you are not expert in drawing one long line all at once, do it in short strokes.
If you used a brush or a pencil, soften the look by gently smudging the line with your brush, a cotton swab or your finger.
Move the wet brush gently through your cake liner or dark shadow. Hold the brush or pencil as you would hold a pen.
Using an eyeliner appropriate for your eye color. Brown, navy and charcoal accent light eyes well, while brown and plum shades flatter brown eyes. Make sure your liner complements the color of your shadow.
Applying Eye Liner Application Tips
Use an eyeliner that has a mechanical, twist-up-pencil type tip. I find that these are the easiest to apply!
If you use a pencil or crayon type liner, instead of a liquid one, put the line on and use a cotton bud tip to smooth out the line. This makes it a lot easier and quicker.
Applying eyeliner half way along the bottom lash line makes your eyes look rounder and more defined. Don't worry too much about a straight neat line; simply smudge the line with a cotton bud or your finger so it's soft and natural looking.
Keep your eye slightly open. Tilt your head back and look at the mirror with both eyes open. That allows you to get very close to your eyelash line.
Do not put on mounds of eyeliner because you will look like a raccoon about three hours later.

Skin Peels
Skin Peels is a procedure whereby a chemical mixture is used to peel off Or removethe top, unhealthy and/or scarred layers of the skin. But what purpose does it serve?Askin peel, when performed properly:
1. Improves the texture of the skin and brings a glow to normal skin.
2. Clears small-andmedium-sized pits and scars formed due to acne or pimples along with the pimples.
3. Removes superficialscars, blotchiness and mild darkening! tanning.
4. Makes dull, lifelessskin arising due to an illness, weight loss, hormonal imbalanceor any other internal or system disease look freshand glowing.
5. Give a new leaseof life to aging skin with mild to moderate wrinkles.
In the skin peel procedure, the face is first thoroughly cleaned with either acetone or alcohol. The peeling solution is then painted on to the face for two to ten minutes. It is then neutralized by a cooling solution after which the patient can return home. It is mandatory for the person to stay indoors following the peel for two to ten days depending on the depth of the peel.
The best results are obtained by doing a series of gradually increasing superficial peels at intervals of ten to fifteen days.
Skin Peels and Skin Microdermabrasion
This is one of the latest techniques of achieving a skin peel by utilizing inert microcrystals of corundum powder. The bio-operation gives continuous, fast and easy control of operation depth; it is safe and has no chemical interaction.
Microdermabrasion performs progressive and controlled exfoliation by peeling the layers of the skin. Depending on the depth of peel required, it can be done every one to two weeks for eight to ten times. Unlikethe earlier conventional methods, this is a safe and sure way of skin peeling for the face and body.
Microdermabrasion is particularly useful for rejuvenating aging, dull congested and blemished skin, removing fme wrinkles, mild acne or post-acne scars, including 'open pores', minor scar tissues and stretch marks, and skin smoothening and evening out colour.

The foregoing paragraphs would have given you some idea of the plethora of moisturizing products available in the market. Each brand could be selling at least five different kinds of moisturizers, each with some special ingredient! With so much to confuse a consumer, you could automatically assume that choosing a skin smoothener can be a pretty rough job.
Wrong! All it takes is understanding what formula suits your skin the best and then relaxing as the miracles happen.
Finding the right moisturizer which is best for you is a process of trial and error, and personal preference. Some women love to splurge on faI?-CY moisturizers with all the trimmings; others prefer inexpensive, get-the-job-done products. Whichever you like, the best judge of whether a moisturizer works is you.
Basically, the moisturizer you choose should make your skin feel soft and smooth, and help remove dryness or flakiness. The effect of the moisturizer should last for at least six to eight hours. A good moisturizer is one which spreads easily and evenly over the surface of the skin. It should get completely absorbed and should not make you sweat too much.
The most important factor in determining the type of moisturizer you need is your skin type. For example, if you are prone to acne, pimples, breakouts or blocked pores, then you will want to use oil- free moisturizing products. Women with these skin problems would do well with products containing AHAs. This provides a double benefit: the AHA opens pores as it sloughs off dead skin cells while it simultaneously moisturizes the skin.
It is important to use the right moisturizer. If you choose the Wrongmoisturizer, your skin can suffer more than if you select the Wrongcleanser. This is because a moisturizer sits on your skin for the longest time, giving it ample opportunity to do real damage.
Like cleansers, your choice of moisturizer may change as the seasons change. In fact, in the summer most people need a lighter moisturizer and will change back to a heavier, richer moisturizer around wintertime.
How to Moisturize your Skin - Skin Moisturizing Tips
Wash face and hands with cleanser and warm water.
Pat lightly with a towel, leaving the skin a little moist.
Dot moisturizer all over your face and blend in thoroughly. No matter what your skin type is, the best way to apply moisturizer is with your hands on slightly damp skin, because it helps lock in the water in the upper layers of the skin and sealing it on to the skin. It is much more effective this way.
Don't tug or pull your skin to let the moisturizer sink in. Try a lighter formulation instead if you feel your current product is too thick.
If your skin is slightly oily, you may need to apply moisturizer only once a day; but those with drier skin may need to reapply moisturizer several times throughout the day.
Don't neglect your neck. Always moisturize your neck along with your face. The neck is extremely vulnerable to lines and sagging, because the skin there contains fewer oil glands than the skin on your face, making it drier and more prone to wrinkling.
For best results, all moisturizers should be applied on moist or damp skin immediately after washing.

As mentioned earlier, the skin on the face is exposed to harsh elements on a daily basis. This is why you need to ensure that you treat your face with much more care. Be gentle with your face. Although you may use soap on your face when bathing, it is best to avoid it and better to use face washes. Just like body washes, these do not dry your skin out. Facewashes today are so well formulated that they cleanse effectivelybut keep intact your skin's natural oils. There are lots of face washes available in the market. You need to choose one that is most suitable for your skin and your pocket.
Facial cleansers or face washes could belong to the following categories.
1. Foaming cleansers: These generally lather as the name suggests.
2. Gel cleansers: These are usually oil-free and may not foam or lather.
3. Water-soluble cleansers: These are good, all-purpose cleansers and are generally non-irritating.
4. Lotion cleansers: These are recommended for dry or sensitive skin because they leave a light soothing film on the skin.
5. Cleansing milks: These are modified moisturizer formulations. It does not have the surfactants-the active cleaning ingredients of soapsand facewashes-that normal cleansers have which are effective for removing dust and grime.
6. Toner and astringents: Tonersare solutions or lotions designed to remove surface skin cells, soap residue and oils from skin. They are often heavy on water and alcohol and some-times contain other ingredients like witch hazel, salicylic acid or propylene glycol.
Toners are sold under a variety of names: astringents, fresheners, clarifying lotions. When you put toner on your face, your skin tingles. In fact this is why many people buy it: they enjoy the sensation of coolness and find it refreshing. If you enjoy the tingle, go for it. But does your skin really need 'toning'? These products can be very drying to all but the oiliest skins. They are especiallyinappropriate for India where the sun and pollutants already dry your skin out. Hence, use toners with caution and only when called for-when your skin is very oily during the hot, humid summer months.
Choosing the right cleanser is determined by your skin type as well as your lifestyle and your personal preference. For instance, some people may feel clean after wiping their skin with cleanser and cQttonwool while some others may need to splash some water to feelthat they've really cleansed their face. Some people feelhappy with a foamy face wash. You also need to consider the time of the year, because your skin typically changes with the seasons. Usually, skin gets oilier in the summer and drier in the winter, so you'll probably want to change your cleanser from season to season. Generally, use a gentle cleanser to avoid drying out your skin.
Some Cleansing Tips
You need to use cleansing milk:
. If you are outdoors and exposed to pollution, dust, etc. for more than half an hour every day.
. If you use make-up. When using cleansing milk, clean your skin thoroughly but gently with a soft facial tissue and the cleansing milk until the tissue is clean. You may need to do it four or five times, especially if you have make-up. Finally wash with warm water and face wash.

Those who have sensitive skin often suffer more from skin problems. Winter cold, summer heat, dry air and dust-almost anything can provoke reactions in sensitive skin. We discussed taking care of sensitive skin. Here are some further steps you can take:
Cold and dry weather dehydrate the skin. Use a humidifier to keep your skin hydrated.
Sweating it out might be good for your body temperature, but is bad for your skin. So try to keep your environment cool. Splash cool water on your face frequendy, or use awet tissue to wipe your face. Don't sit too close to a fan or air conditioner: high airflow environments can have a drying effect on skin.
Skip foundation in hot weather, because face make-up can block your pores, prevent perspiration from evaporating, thereby triggering skin breakouts.
House dust, moulds, grasses, mildew and pet dander (particles of fur) can make sensitive skin go haywire. So keep an eye out for potential trigger factors.
If the water in your neighbourhood is hard, use a water softener. Removing excess minerals from water may improve its rinsability, helping to better wash away cleanser residue that, if not rinsed off thoroughly, can irritate sensitive skin.
Change the way you wash your clothes. We often soak our clothes in soap-water for several hours. This tends to leave behind some detergent on the clothes, which cannot be rinsed offcompletely. This detergent residue can cause skin irritations when your clothes come in contact with the skin in areas like the underarms, hips and stomach.
Virtually any ingredient in a skin care product has the potential to aggravate sensitive skin. But be especially wary of some common irritants like preservatives, eg., quaternium-15, benzoic acid, parabens and sorbic acid; perfume components like benzyl alcohol; and AHAs like lactic acid. You could ask your dermatologist to perform apatch test on you for common allergens to determine which ingredientsyou arelikelyto react to.
