How To Make Homemade Hand Cream

If there is one thing that is becoming a common trend in the beauty industry, it’s that natural products are becoming all the rage and are growing in popularity. The only drawback from this trend is that natural and organic products are quite a bit more expensive than the more traditional, chemical-filled formulations. But that doesn’t have to be the cause when it comes to hand cream! Here are some great recipes on how you can make your very own luxurious hand creams from your very own home!
Almond Hand Cream for All Skin Types
To make this rich, wonderfully scented cream, all you need is:
  • ½ cup of almond oil
  • ½ cup of coconut oil
  • ¼ cup of beeswax
  • ¼ cup of rosewater
Take the ¼ cup of beeswax and heat it slowly in a double boiler. Once it has melted, stir ½ cup of almond oil. Then stir in the ½ cup of coconut oil and mix in the rosewater. Continue to stir until all of the ingredients are mixed thoroughly. Pour the mixture into a container while it is still quite hot, and it will firm up as it cools. Within a couple of hours you will have your very own hand cream!
TIP: You can make your own rosewater at home by simmering 1 cup of fresh rose petals in 1 ½ cups of distilled water for about ten minutes. Strain the flowers from the water, and voila! Homemade rosewater.
Hand Cream for Dry, Sensitive, and Problematic Skin
If you suffer from eczema, skin allergies, or any other sort of skin sensitivities, then this hand cream is definitely for you. All you need are 4 ingredients:
Take the rosehip seed oil and emulsifying wax, and combine it in a glass measuring cup. Microwave them together for about 1 minute (or until the wax has melted). Then take the essential oil and add it into the wax and rosehip seed oil. Take the hot water, and pour it over the other three ingredients. Pour the mixture into jars and allow them to cool overnight.
Hand Cream for Mature Skin
Shea butter is fantastic when it comes to hydrating drier, more mature skin. This hand cream recipe is one of the simplest yet. All you need is:
  • 4 Tbsp. of shea butter
  • 2 Tbsp. of camellia seed oil
  • 10 drops of carrotseed essential oil
Take the shea butter and combine it with the camellia oil in a double boiler. Heat the two ingredients together until the shea butter melts. Once melted, mix the two ingredients together well and then add the essential oil. Pour the ingredients into a jar or other appropriate containers, and allow it to cool overnight.
TIP: If you’re ever in a pinch for hand cream, try using some alternatives such as olive oil. Olive oil has been used as a moisturizing agent for skin for centuries and almost all of us have it sitting in our kitchen cupboards!
